Opinions On Nutrisystem: Feedback On The Food, Cost, Weight Loss, And Experience

Author: Ava Alderman

I recently heard from someone who was trying to evaluate the Nutrisystem diet. She asked me, in part: “What do most people think of Nutrisystem? What types of opinions do you hear expressed? Do most people like it? What are the common complaints?” I will try to address these questions and concerns in the following article.

Some Common Opinions That I Hear About Nutrisystem: Before I get into specifics, I have to say that every one is different and the comments that I hear vary depending on who is offering them and the experiences as well as the personality of this person. However, most people appreciate that this diet offers many more food options than many similar diets. There are over 150 food choices and most of them are comfort foods that you don’t typically associate with diets. Examples are pizza, burgers, tacos, spaghetti, and lots of desserts like cakes, brownies, and muffins. Most people concede that these are nice choices for a low calories and low carb diet.

People also ask me a decent amount of questions about the celebrities that they often associate with this diet, but this really doesn’t have much to do with individual results or experiences. Still, if a recognizable figure peaks someone’s interest and gets them to take action, this isn’t entirely a bad thing in my opinion.

And, I also hear a lot of positive feedback about the diet being prepackaged. This means that there is less work for you and that you don’t have to count calories, carbs, or fats. Basically, you’re only choosing which of the diet’s foods that you want to eat that day. Many people like this aspect of the diet because many people don’t like to cook and prepare meals.

But, sometimes I do hear from people who don’t embrace this. Some folks really like food preparation and miss this. Now, you do have to add in fresh sides with each meal, but this usually doesn’t require any heavy cooking. So, this can be frustrating for those that enjoy cooking. Folks who are of this mind frame can feel like they have less control than they might like.

Also, I often hear opinions about the Nutrisystem food. Some people find it’s not bad at all and some don’t like all of it. I find that many people are somewhere in the middle of this. In my case, there are some foods that I like very much and there are some that I have only eaten once and never returned to. Luckily though, they do allow for you to chose your own meals. So, there is no reason that you should have to order something off of the menu that you aren’t going to like. I limit my selections to the foods that I know I enjoy. There are enough Nutrisystem choices that this isn’t too difficult and life is too short to eat foods that you don’t enjoy.

It’s my observation that many people are relatively pleased with their weight loss results. Many people are looking at about a 2 – 3 pounds per week and this adds up relatively quickly over time. Of course, the longer you stick to the diet, the more weight loss you will rack up. When I hear from people who say they aren’t losing weight, I ask them to look at their side items and make sure that the additions aren’t too high in calories, sugars, and carbs as this can affect your ability to get and stay in ketosis.

Another topic that people generally share their opinions with me about Nutrisystem is the cost. Some people think that this diet is relatively expensive. But, some have run the numbers and have concluded that, with coupons, eating on this diet is actually cheaper than what you might pay if you tried to fix your own low calorie and low carb meals. If you run the numbers yourself, you might find that will coupons, you’re looking at around $8 – $10 per day for five meals. The exact cost depends on which plan you chose, if you use coupons, and whether you opt for auto ship. Whether you see $8 – $10 per day is being expensive probably depends on many factors that are individual.

In general, the opinions that people share with me about Nutrisystem are mostly quite positive. I do hear from people who worry about the expense, but sometimes if they run the numbers and use some good coupons they come to see that it’s not quite as bad as they thought.
